Hiking holidays in the Jura
Travelogue
When the weather is nice, we start our hike in Tramelan towards Mont Crosin. First flat, then steeper through the forest. The path is narrow and framed by Turkish lilies. Once at the top, we hike from a closed mountain restaurant to a closed alpine hut. The wind turbines turn in the rain, their wings regularly disappearing into the clouds in the upper turning range. On Mont Crosin we find shelter in one of the two restaurants before we take the bus down to St. Imier and take the train to Courtelary. A visit to the "Camille Bloch" chocolate factory (Ragusa !!!) ends the day relatively sweetly.

On a mountain trail we get to the lookout point Haute du Bémont and enjoy the view to the Vosges on the one hand and the Chasseral on the other. In the restaurant Les Places we enjoy a good lunch on the viewing terrace with a beautiful view of Tavannes. We take the way back through the forest and after 45 minutes we reach our campsite, which is right next to the local Piscine (swimming pool).

We take the train to Moutier in the Canton of Jura. From the train station, the route first goes to the 1000-year-old Romanesque church Chapelle de Charière, which used to belong to the Moutier-Grandvalle monastery. It is used today as a cemetery church and can be visited.
It is only a stone's throw from the church to the entrance to the gorge. It is steadily uphill on a good hiking trail. The road follows the road for a short time, but is then led separately again. We pass picnic areas and then reach a steep and narrow stretch of road until the gorge suddenly widens and we arrive at the edge of the village of Court. The train takes you back to Tramelan. In Tavannes we have to wait 40 minutes for the connecting train, but enjoy a cool beer in the restaurant opposite the station.

The weather is not optimal today. So we decide on a tour of the village. A brochure is available in the tourist office at the train station, which shows the sights of the place and recommends a suitable circular route.
With this document we are on the way. We walk through the first cinema of the entire Jura arch, the Schuhaus, community center and many buildings of the old watch metropolis, but also an old quarter with beautiful farmhouses. Here industrial history and the skill or clumsiness of a region with monoculture are clearly visible.
Finally, the path leads us past a new sports center and over a bridge back to the center. After that there is still the way home to the campsite.

With the Jurabahn we get to the stop "La Chaux-de-Breuleux", on the edge of an agricultural hamlet. Already here we are surrounded by the wide pastures, which are occasionally interspersed with fir trees. In the background is the Montagne du Droit with the many wind generators of the Mont Crosin. Now it goes northeast through the moor (Tourbière) and reach a small but fine pond in the forest. The calm is guaranteed!
Now it goes north over Jura pastures. Horses and cows graze freely to the left and right of the trail. So we get to the Etang de la Gruère, also a moor lake with a beautiful, but often used circular route.
Finally, we hike to Saignelegier. Shortly before the place we pass the sports facility, where we can eat well. At the end it goes to the train station and by train via Le Noirmont back to Tramelan. The train ride leads through partially untouched natural landscapes with a unique flair. The trip is really recommended and cannot be covered by car.
